Hi guys!

In this blog post I'm going to write down my thoughts after reading three 'readings' or articles about game design. The three articles that I have read are the following

Euro Style Games
Beginner Game Design
Pulling The Plug

So, lets get right into the first one. The first article called 'The Essence of Euro-style Games' written by Lewis Pulsipher talked about euro styled games. After reading this article I got a lot of information on games and game making which I hope will help me in this module. Before I go on, you're probably wondering what are euro style games? Euro style games are games that are usually take an hour to complete when playing, have great visual interest and contain simple rules. An example of a euro styled game is a game called 'Stone Age'

Following this I've read the second article called 'So You're Going To Make A Game For The Very First Time' written also by Lewis Pulsipher and  focused on the different steps when creating a game for the first time. I found this article to be extremely useful because it gives clear points on what to do and focus on when making a game for the first time. His steps included making your game to be a different variation of a game that already exists. Making sure you focus in gameplay rather then the story or appearance of the game.

The third and final piece called 'Pulling The Plug' written by (you guessed it) Lewis Pulsipher talked about the benefits of teaching game design with non-electronic games. Some of the benefits that Pulsipher mentioned were that more ideas would be generated, gameplay would then become a focus point when creating and it becomes more evident that game design was present.

In conclusion, all three articles focused on different topics under the Game Design area. After reading all three I've gained useful tips on game making that I hope will help me when I'm creating my game later on in the module.

Thanks for reading.
